For more than 50 years, Pat Carpenter has created a place where music feels comfortable, creative, and real. Long before it became Pat’s Place Studio, musicians simply knew it as “Pat’s Place” — a spot where friends gathered, songs were born, and jam sessions could last half the night.
What started as a passion for music gradually expanded into building sound systems, recording gear, and eventually a full working studio. By 1985, Pat’s Place Studio had grown into a dedicated state-of-the-art recording facility occupying an entire floor of Pat’s Charlotte home.
Over the years, the equipment evolved from analog tape machines to today’s modern digital technologies, but the spirit of the studio never changed. Pat’s Place has always been about creating an atmosphere where artists can relax, experiment, and bring out their very best performances without pressure or pretense.
Musicians throughout the Southeast have long appreciated the studio’s balance of professional sound and laid-back creativity. From local singers and beach music legends to touring performers and emerging artists, Pat’s Place has become known as a studio where songs come alive naturally.
At the heart of it all is Pat Carpenter himself — award-winning musician, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer, and recording engineer. With decades of experience both on stage and behind the console, Pat brings instinct, patience, and a genuine love for music into every project that comes through the door.
Today, Pat’s Place Studio continues to evolve through its creative association with Johnnie Bailey and Bailey Artist Management (BAM!). Together they are embracing modern music technologies, new production ideas, and exciting opportunities for artists looking to create music that blends timeless musicianship with today’s evolving sound.
